What they are looking for

Read this before writing. A sponsor who states their criteria this plainly is telling you whether it is worth your afternoon.

• Grassroots or semi-professional, within 60 miles of Manchester
• A junior section — this is why the programme exists
• Somewhere our name is actually seen: kit, ground boards or a clubhouse
• Happy to be photographed and written about twice a season

Why they do it

We sell advertising space for a living, so we know what a clubhouse wall on a busy road is worth and we would rather it went to the club than to nobody. Four clubs, a season each, cash plus billboard space we already own. We are not looking for the biggest crowd — we are looking for the club that will still be there in ten years.
