East Wall Projects owns the lease on a single gable-end wall and paints nothing else. That is the whole business, and it is deliberate: a crew that paints one wall knows exactly how the brick takes paint in February and how long the render needs after rain.
A campaign goes up over four to six days and is time-lapsed as it is painted — the film is handed over with the finished wall and tends to do more work on social than the wall does on the street. At the end of the run the wall is repainted to base, so the next advertiser starts on a clean surface rather than over someone else's ghost.
The calendar is short and the wall is never double-sold. Scaffold, permits and the paint crew are inside every quote, because the alternative — quoting the space and surprising the buyer with the access costs — is how this trade got its reputation.
